Welcome to our new "SPOTLIGHT" page where we bring to your attention books and gift items that we thought are pretty cool. More often than not, they will be some quirky, lesser known stuff. Hidden gems. We'll also tell you about any in-store events that might be coming up. Unless it's a larger event, in which case it'll most likely have a page of its own. Or its own separate wing or something. With its own zip code.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC • MUNCHIES WELCOME

The Legend of Bagger Vance
Matt Damon, Will Smith, Charlize Theron
Based on the book "The Legend of Bagger Vance" by:
In the Depression year of 1931, on the golf links at Krewe Island off Savannah's windswept shore, two legends of the game - Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen - meet for a mesmerizing thirty-six-hole showdown. Another golfer will also compete - a troubled local war hero, once a champion, who comes with his mentor and caddie, the mysterious Bagger Vance. It is Vance, sage and charismatic, who will ultimately guide the match, for he holds the secret of the Authentic Swing. And he alone can show his protege the way back to glory.
Have you met Ollie? The super adorable, irresistible hunk of love??
Ollie is a four-year-old Sheepadoodle (Old English Sheepdog and Poodle hybrid). He was certified in August 2015 through the Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog Program after going through 18 months of training with his handler/owner Carol Kirby, and is now a working certified therapy dog with the Newtown Strong Therapy Dogs program.
B.A.R.K. is a free community service program open to children ages 6 to 12. It is a simple program where kids get to practice reading by doing so aloud to, yup, Ollie!
Reading to a calm and well trained pet can help boost the confidence and self esteem of reluctant readers: kids are less anxious, less self-conscious and more relaxed knowing that the "listener" is non-judgmental, patient and offers unconditional love.
Limited time slots are available. If you are interested in reserving one for your child, please contact the bookstore at 203-944-0400.
